Luggage Locking Wheel
The goal was to incorporate a locking mechanism into an existing luggage wheel assembly. After an assessment of different OEM locking mechanisms, it became evident they would not meet our requirements. As a result, I explored alternative directions and eventually repurposed the rotating thrust mechanism of a ballpoint pen for our design. I oversaw the testing process at the factory and addressed a problem where initial parts were failing the 50lb drop test. I quickly devised an effective solution, the wheel successfully passed the test, and production proceeded on schedule.
